General Description:
The purpose of this role is to conduct scientific research and develop process control for plastic welding methods in industrial applications. It will also involve the development of a product strategy roadmap and product vision for emerging technologies in plastics processing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process system design and control
- Design and development of AI driven machine monitoring solutions
- Define and develop the product strategy roadmap and product vision for standard products regarding plastic welding applications using laser technology
- Manage the product development throughout the product life cycle, by gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements
- Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure that the company’s overall strategy and goals are met
- Investigate process feasibility for Sales and Project Management teams
- Provide technical information/support for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments
- Present proposals, reports, and findings to Sales, Project Management, and Engineering teams
- Confer with Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering to discuss project specifications, procedures, and budgets
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports
- Direct and manage government funding opportunities for R&D tax credits – applications, audits, reviews
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Graduate degree in engineering from an accredited university required (MASc or PhD)
- Knowledge/understanding of PLC programming
- Working knowledge of various programming languages such as C#, Python, and MATLAB
- Working knowledge of industry and engineering standards
- Must be able to work in fast-paced environment
- Must have good communication and organizational skills
- Travel to USA, Mexico, and Canada (less than 10% of time)
